Reina Lewis is professor of Cultural Studies at London College of Fashion, and the author of Muslim Fashion: Contemporary Style Cultures (Duke University Press, 2015)

Andreas Philippopoulos-Mihalopoulos is the Director of the Westminster Law and Theory Lab and the author of Spatial Justice: Body, Lawscape, Atmosphere (Routeledge, 2014)

Leopold Lambert is the founder and editor of The Funambulist Magazine and the author of Weaponized Architecture (dpr-barcelona, 2012) 

The Funambulist Magazine is a bimestrial publication about the political relationships of the designed environment with the bodies. It operates alongside a blog and a podcast (Archipelago) that both share the same editorial line.

'Everything is Architecture' Discussion on Fri 19 June, 1pm at the ICA

"With the spotlight on architecture as the London Festival of Architecture takes over the capital this month and we look ahead to our forthcoming display Everything is Architecture: Bau Magazine from the 60s and 70s (opening 28 July), our Culture Now series looks to architectural practice.

In light of the upcoming display Everything is Architecture: Bau Magazine from the 60s and 70s, this talk serves as a precursory investigation into the little-known Austrian magazine Bau, co-edited between 1965 and 1970 by Hans Hollein, Walter Pichler, Günther Feuerstein and others.

Part of the London Festival of Architecture, for this event, Prof. Murray Fraser will chair a discussion with Peter Cook and architectural historian (and occasional visiting critic for BAIA) Dr. Eva Branscome."

New issue of a + t: 'Workforce: A better place to work'

"The contemporary workplace has derived from successive compression/decompression. First there was the hierarchical Taylorist office. Then came the rational well-lit well-organized office with individual cubicles which allocated each employee the exact amount of air they needed to breathe. Later there was a return to the open landscape office, with free layouts, shrouded in vegetation, which was the forerunner of the de-materialization of the workplace.

Today we are in a far more fluid state which envisages the specialization of space and brand expression. Diversity and identity. The workplace should encompass, not only the two basic tasks already known - individual and group work - but also tasks involving learning and socializing.

A Better Place to Work is the first volume of the WORKFORCE series, dedicated to the design of workspaces."

new issue of a+t Reclaim: Domestic Actions

The new issue  of a+t Reclaim, "Domestic Actions", contains 54 actions that strip and boil down the home to its most basic roots. They have lightened the load, made up for previous mistakes and taken away the aesthetic preconceptions that until now had put strain on these type of interventions.

Reclaim - Domestic Actions classifies these actions into three Re- processes: Reduce, Retrieve and Remove. The recent additions refer to refusal and relinquishment options about the current living environment. After having undergone a series of material, formal, technical and economical adjustments, the role of inhabiting a space is viewed with a fresh perspective. Lastly, the issue adds a fourth process: Simulate, a valuable partner for times of crisis.

The volume forms part of the RECLAIM series.
