Richard Serra show at Gagosian Gallery, 11 Oct to 28 Feb 2015

"An ensemble of four very different works, with a room devoted to each, fills Gagosian in London, in Richard Serra’s first show of sculpture here since 2008. The sum is bigger than the parts, though each work is satisfying in its own way, and each is worth the trip alone. 'I wanted to make a show with different aspects of compression and circulation, intervals and elevation, different ways to approach a field or a space or a context,' the 74-year-old artist tells me, speaking from New York." (from the gaurdian)

Richard Serra is at Gagosian Gallery, London WC1, from 11 October to 28 February 2015.

Urs Fischer – You, Gavin Brown’s enterprise (NYC) -2007

"The artist dug a crater on the gallery, removing its concrete level. The architecture of the gallery is altered by cutting, disruption, and destructive transformations. 'You simultaneously attacks and fetishizes the attributes of galleries, the qualities that the critic Brian O’Doherty has described as 'something of the sacredness of churches, the austerity of courtrooms, the mysteriousness of research laboratories, something that, together with stylish designs, makes them unique cultic places of the aesthetic' ', writes Jerry Saltz in the New York Magazine."

Steven Holl: Proposal for Institute for Contemporary Art

Sited at the edge of the Virginia Commonwealth University campus in Richmond, Virginia, the new Institute for Contemporary Art will link the University with the surrounding community.  The new Institute for Contemporary Art is organized in four galleries, each with a different character. Flexibility allows for four separate exhibitions, one continuous exhibition, or combinations. Galleries can be closed for installations without affecting the circulation to the others.

For plans, sections, and renderings of the proposed project visit archdaily.

From factory to Kunsthall:Petra Gipp Arkitektur

in the designer's words, from archdaily
"In the landmarked industrial building, dating from the last turn of century, there are imprints of different eras. It can be compared to an archive – layers of time. The building has served as ammunition factory, paint factory and presently as kunsthalle for contemporary art and architecture.

The visitor is lead through a narrow alley with the light from above shining down towards the water. The walkway runs close to the kunsthalle as it passes the entire building, to then be invited into the dark stairway and the vast pillar hall."

Ground floor, first and second floor plans, along with further description and images can be found at archdaily.
